National Disability Insurance Scheme

What Is NDIS?

That’s why we follow a thorough intake process — to ensure we’re the right fit for your needs and that we have the most suitable Support Workers available to support you.

KEY OBJECTIVES

Empowerment

Enabling people with disabilities to make informed choices about their support services, promoting self-advocacy and decision-making.

Inclusion

Fostering social and economic participation in their communities, encouraging individuals to engage in activities that promote social connections and economic independence.

Independence

: Enhancing individuals’ autonomy and self-determination, supporting them to live independently and make choices about their lives.

How it Works

Eligibility

Individuals with disabilities can apply to join the NDIS by meeting specific eligibility criteria, which assess their permanent and significant disability, functional capacity, and support needs.

Planning

Participants work with NDIS planners or Local Area Coordinators (LACs) to develop a personalized support plan. This plan outlines their goals, aspirations, and support needs, and identifies the funding required to achieve these goals.

Funding

The NDIS provides funding for support services and activities outlined in the participant’s plan. This funding can be used to access a range of supports, such as therapy, equipment, home modifications, and personal care.

Service Providers

Participants have the flexibility to choose from a range of registered NDIS service providers to deliver their supports. This promotes choice and control, allowing participants to select providers that best meet their needs and preferences.

benefits

Increased choice and control

Participants have the flexibility to choose their support services, providers, and how their funding is used. This allows them to tailor their supports to their individual needs and preferences.

Improved outcomes

The NDIS aims to enhance participants’ overall well-being by supporting them to achieve their goals. This can include improving their social connections, economic participation, and personal development.

Enhanced inclusion

: The scheme promotes community participation and social interaction, helping participants to connect with others, build relationships, and engage in activities that are meaningful to them. This can lead to greater independence, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
