NDIS frequently asked questions

The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is a government initiative that funds disability care and support. It provides eligible Australians with the funding they need to access services that promote independence and help achieve their personal goals.

We’ve put together answers to some of the most common questions we receive about the NDIS and how we support participants through the scheme.

About the NDIS

NDIS funding

The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is a government program that provides funding for a wide range of disability support services.

Through this program, eligible individuals with a disability can receive funding to access the care and supports they need to improve their quality of life and achieve greater independence.

The NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) is the government body responsible for managing and delivering the NDIS. It offers information, service referrals, personalised care plans, and other support to help individuals access the services they need.

To access the NDIS, you need to contact the NDIA. They will guide you through the application process, assess your eligibility, and arrange funding for your care plan.

Through the NDIS, you receive funding tailored to the specific services and supports you require. There are no fixed funding amounts.

Your NDIS planner will work with you to determine the necessary funding to cover the care and support you need.

Your NDIS funding can be used for many different types of support, such as:

  • Daily living, life skills, and self-care activities
  • Community and social participation
  • Aids and equipment
  • Home modifications
  • Transport and community access
  • Employment and workplace support
  • Therapeutic supports

The NDIA can help you understand the range of services and supports available to you and guide you on how to access them.

What our participants say about us

“Mary’s support has truly been life-changing for me. As a hearing-impaired lipreader, the widespread use of masks in the community made communication very challenging. Mary has acted as my eyes and ears, helping me understand complex issues with government organizations over the phone and standing by my side in person as my advocate.

She is highly professional, but above all, patient and kind, with a compassionate, holistic approach to my disabilities. Her support has greatly eased my stress and anxiety during the difficult and extended periods of isolation due to COVID-19 directives.

Mary is a valuable asset to Absolute Care & Health.”
